the focused rider is based on a simple idea
You can create your own success in the saddle
Hey there, I’m Jen
I’m on a mission to help you make positive changes in your riding through thoughtful, focused effort.
After years of riding and owning horses, I found myself desperate not only to keep track of everything I did with my horses but also to figure out ways of combating deep-seated fears and anxieties.
Between rehabbing two horses with injuries in two years to facing the grim realization that my safe and steady new dressage partner was less safe and more horse than I bargained for, I lost my passion for riding.
And… I forgot why I fell head over heels in love with these giant furry beasts in the first place.
I needed a whole new approach to riding – one centered on being mindful, present, and focused.
The Focused Rider came to life.
No unicorns, rainbow sprinkles, or fairy tales
Just practical ideas and tools to make the journey with your horse a meaningful one
From the latest in psychology research to real-world rider insights on creating better habits, The Focused Rider brings you everyday solutions and tools geared towards reaching your riding goals – no matter what they are.
about jen havice
CREATOR OF THE FOCUSED RIDER
I’m an amateur dressage rider who enjoys cutting the occasional cow. I’ve been riding for over 20 years and owning horses for almost that long. When I’m not sitting on a horse, chasing after two quirky wirehaired pointers, or thinking up new ways to inspire riders, you can find me helping businesses with their messaging. I live and ride in the Twin Cities, or as I affectionately like to call it, the land of 10,000 hot dishes.
- I’m a planning nerd and productivity junky – if there’s an app, planner, or article about developing better habits, I’ve either tried it or read about it.
- My marketing clients love the fact that I can distill complex ideas into the easily understandable
- I never met a piece of chocolate I didn’t like
